The paper is dealing with geochemical and biogeochemical characterization of an endemic hematuria area, Ceahlau. The rocks of the area belong to flysch zone. The soil cover includes cambisols (70 percent) and Argiluvisols (30 percent). Most of them have a very low content of mobile phosphorous. The total contents of heavy metals are from 1,3 to 6,0 times higher as compared with the normal content in soil. Also, the average contents of heavy metals in water are up to 9 times higher than the background values for the continental surface waters. The contents of Pb, Zn and Cd exceeds the maximum admissible level in the drinking water. The flora composition is of a high diversity prevailing the species without nourishing value. The meadow vegetation have nitrogen and phosphorus deficiency. The plant Fe, Mn, Co, Pb, Ni, Cd contents are higher than normal leves. As far as cattle requirements, the pastures in this area are deficient in P, Mg and excessive in Fe, Mn and Co.
