This first part of the "Veeteeltgids voor Suriname" is meant for everyone who by virtue of their profession has anything to do with anymal husbandry. In the first place the farmers themselves: cattle farmers, sheep farmers and goat farmers. This guide is not meant in the first place for the large scale industrial enterprises, but especially for the numerous small family businesses who because of their great number contribute a great deal to the animal production in Suriname. This book is also meant for all those who are involved with animal husbandry through education, the government, the feed sector or other related sectors. In this guide we can find numerous aspects of the dairy farming, slaughter farming and the rearing of small ruminants, such as feed, grassland maintenance, housing, hygiene, the curing and the prevention of sicknesses, production techniques, production results, simple administration and bookkeeping.
