Essential parts of integrated pest management in cereals are the choice of resistent varieties, notice of economic thresholds and fertilizing in relation to plant growth. Under ecological aspects susceptible varieties seemed to be critical even they have advantages in farming. Not all disadvantages could be equalized with a higher rate of plant protection compounds and fertilizer. Regulations concerning water protection marks of compounds have had no influence on the wheat production in 1989. But more trials are necessary for a final judgement of government regulations. In the year 1989 reduced input of plant protection compounds and fertilizer gained to good economic results in any case on sandy soils. A decrease of plant protection input is easier by reducing the dosage-rate of compounds than by saving number of treatments.
