Integrated fruit production (IFP) involves also integrated plant protection (IPP) and is a combination of genetic, agronomic, biotechnological and chemical methods in an economical crop protection system, which optimizes product quality and safeguards the environment and human health. In some European fruit growing regions the amount of apples and pears produced according to IFP system reaches up to 80 percent. In Poland the official establishment of IFP in organized form has began in 1990. In 1992 IFP was realized in 8 regions on the total area of 470 ha by 117 farmers with the help of 31 extension workers. The first "labeled" fruits produced in "integrated orchards" will be offered on domestic market in 1993.
