Esperienze di solarizzazione del terreno per la lotta contro Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis [del melone] in coltura protetta.

Greenhouse studies were performed, in San Pietro a Grado (Pisa, Italy) in 1989, 1990 and 1991 in naturally infected soil to determine the efficacy of soil solarization against Fusarium wilt of muskmelon. In 1989 and 1990 soil mulching lasted from the end of July to the end of August beginning of September and the plants were immediately transplanted to evaluate the residual inoculum potential. In 1991 the treatment was anticipated to allow crop production and lasted from the end of June to the end of July and all the combinations between solarization (yes, not) and reduced dosages (nil, 25 and 50 gm-2) of Dazomet were evaluated. The number of diseased and dead plants at different times from transplanting were recorded for all the experiments; fruit and biomass production were evaluated in 1991. Soil solarization reduces the inoculum potential of the pathogen and the efficacy of the treatment was enhanced following solarization in 1991. Plants mortality was reduced by Dazomet application but this did not increase production; interactions between the two treatments were not significant. Fresh weight and Mn content of leaves, fresh weight and length of roots were higher in plants growing in solarized plots compared with those in non solarized plots.

ITALIANO: Nel triennio '89-'91 sono state condotte prove di lotta contro la "fusariosi" del melone in serra, in terreno naturalmente infetto. I risultati ottenuti hanno mostrato come la solarizzazione sia in grado di ridurre l'inoculo potenziale di F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis; riduzione che e risultata decisamente piu elevata impiegando coperture di larghezza superiore; nel 1991 essa ha, inoltre, comportato un aumento della produzione vendibile. L'impiego di Dazomet ha ridotto la mortalita ma non ha aumentato la produzione ne si sono registrate interazioni tra questo trattamento e la solarizzazione. Nelle parcelle solarizzate il peso fresco ed il contenuto in Mn delle foglie, il peso fresco e la lunghezza delle radici risultano piu elevati rispetto ai controlli.
