The sugar contents of individual sweet corn fresh kernel and their variations within the same ear were determined by modifying blood glucose determined method. A small quantity of sample, too small to be checked by a refractometer, can be accurately analyzed by this method. It was found that the sugar contents of the kernel from the tip end of the ear differed from the basal end. In addition, variation from seed to seed in the same ear was also found as well. The sugar contents of the seeds from the tip end were higher than that from the basal end of the same ear.
