Based on herbarium collection preserved in various herbaria and on field studies as well as on published literatures it has been estimated that there are about 24 taxa belonging to 12 genera of indigenous palms available in Bangladesh. Determination of the exotic palms presently cultivated in the country will help in preparing a complete inventory of palm wealth of Bangladesh.
