This report examines details of historical flooding on the West Coast, South Island, New Zealand. It aims to produce a comprehensive record of West Coast flood events; to present rainfall, river level and discharge data, and synoptic weather condition information, where possible, for major flood events; to identify areas most at risk from flooding; and to produce a historical foundation to which subsequent flood records can be added.
