Performan produksi sapi peranakan Fries Holland jantan dipelihara pada macam pakan penggemukan yang berbeda.

English. The feedlot (fattening) has been recognized as a method for improving beef cattle production including carcass quality. This experiment was conducted to study the growth rate, feed consumption and conversion, and carcass production of male Holstein-Friesian grade fattened under three different diets of two concentrates (CI, CII) and roughages (king grass, corn silage). The male Holstein-Friesian grade consisting of 16 grower (group I) and 12 finisher cattle (group II), were fattened with four different treatment diets the combination of 70 percent CI and 30 percent king grass (A); 70 percent CI and 30 percent corn silage (B); 70 percent CII and 30 percent king grass (C); and 70 percent CII and 30 percent corn silage (D). All cattle were fed ad libitum, and water was available all the time. The observation of the growth for two months, and the cattle was slaughtered after marketing slaughter weight or approximately 425 kg. The statistical analyses were done by 2 x 2 factorial analyses, means and standard deviation. The results indicated that the Holstein-Friesien grade of the group I and II with CII diet grew significantly faster than the CI (P<0.05). The average daily gain of the group I for treatment A,B,C, and D were 0.62; 0.68; 1.03 and 1.03 kg, respectively, while group II were 0,76; 0,74; 1,31; and 1,33 kg, respectively. The feed conversion and feed cost/ gain ratio for group I and II cattle fed with CII were lower than those fed with CI (P<0.05); on the contrary, they were not affected significantly by roughage differences. The respective dressing percentage of treatment A, B, C and D for group I was 53.56; 53.94; 53.30 and 54.30 percent. Group II was 53.04; 54.10; 56.66; and 55.74 percent respectively.

BAHASA: Usaha penggemukan merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan produktivitas sapi potong, termasuk kualitas karkas yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui laju pertumbuhan, konsumsi dan konversi pakan, serta produksi karkas sapi Peranakan Fries Holland (PFH) jantan yang digemukkan dengan pemberian dua macam konsentrat (KI, KII) dan hijauan (rumput raja, silase jagung) yang berbeda. Sapi PFH jantan yang terdiri dari 16 ekor sapi grower (kelompok I) dan 12 ekor sapi finisher (kelompok II), masing-masing digemukkan dengan 4 macam pakan perlakuan, yaitu pakan kombinasi 70 persen KI dan 30 persen rumput raja (A); 70 persen KI dan 30 persen silase jagung (B); 70 persen KII dan 30 persen rumput raja (C); dan 70 persen KII dan 30 persen silase jagung (D). Pakan diberikan sebanyak yang mampu dikonsumsi oleh ternak, dan air minum diberikan secara ad libitum. Pengamatan pertumbuhan dilakukan selama 2 bulan, sedangkan pemotongan sapi dilakukan setelah sapi mencapai bobot potong pemasaran sekitar 425 kg.
