English. An experiment was carried out to study the protein and glucose metabolism in lambs fed a basal hammermilled alfalfa hay or the hay supplemented with either 50 or 100 g formaldehyde-treated casein in a double Latin Square Design (2 x 3 x 3). With the average crude protein consumption of 104, 127, and 169 g/d, crude protein digested were recorded to be 62, 85, and 119 g/d, urea excreted were 24, 27, and 32 g/d, and glucose synthesized were 76,5, 101,7, and 129 mg/minutes. For sheep fed the basal diet, the basal diet was supplemented with 50 and with 100 g formaldehyde-treated casein, respectively. It could be concluded that the dietary protein in this experiment was utilized in efficiency to meet energy demand.
