Shark [attack] prevention measures working well.
1986
Paterson R.
The Queensland shark fishing programme uses nets and lines to protect popular coastal resorts. Since the programme was established in 1962, only one fatal attack has occurred. Contracts to operate the gillnets and drumlines are let triennially, and contractors are expected to demonstrate efficiency by catch figures. Catch composition is discussed, and tables show location of nets, and annual totals and length distribution of sharks captured.
