Uso de agua en cultivares de vid durante la brotacion y crecimiento inicial del brote.

An experiment was conducted during 1992 and 1993 to determine water comsumption from bud-burst to the initial phase of shoot growth, and the influence of carbohydrates stored during the previous year on water consumption by grape cultivars Malaga Roja, Cardinal, Queen, Tokay, Granache, Feher Szagos and Carignane. It was found that between 30 and 50 % of total shoot growth (50-100 cm in lenght) can be supported by carbohydrates stored during the previous year. Water use and crop coefficient (Kc) values in this phase, in the two years, was low eventhough soil water availability was near 100 %. A close relationship was found between aerial dry matter accumulation during this time and water used, and also there was a relationship between carbohydrates in the wood from prunings and the length of the shoot reached before the plant starts increasing soil water use. This last relationship was highly significant.

Durante 1992 y 1993 se llevo a cabo un estudio con el objetivo de cuantificar el agua consumida entre la brotacion y la fase inicial del desarrollo del brote y la influencia que tiene sobre este consumo de agua la cantidad de carbohidratos almacenados en el ciclo anterior. Se usaron siete cultivares: Malaga Roja, Cardinal, Queen, Tokay, Grenache, Feher Szagos y Carignane. Se encontro que de 30 a 50 % del crecimiento total del brote, que representan valores de 50 a 100 cm de longitud, pueden ser sostenidos en su mayor parte por los carbohidratos almacenados. Durante este periodo de crecimiento, los valores del coeficiente de cultivo (Kc), asi como el consumo de agua por los diferentes cultivares en los dos anos de estudio fue bajo, aun cuando el agua disponible en el suelo se mantuvo cercana a 100 %. Se encontro, por un lado, una relacion estrecha entre la acumulacion de materia seca aerea y el agua consumida durante este tiempo y, por otro lado, la relacion entre los carbohidratos en la madera podada y la longitud del brote que se alcanza, antes de que la planta empiece a usar el agua del suelo de una manera intensa, fue altamente significativa.
