Soil moisture levels below field capacity reduced stem elongation, leaf expansion, flowering, yield, and chlorophyll content of mature trifoliates in the mungbean plant. Electron microscopy revealed smaller grana and large interlamellar spaces in the chloroplast of stressed plants.
