In a three-year trial on carrot, Rubina cultivar, the effect of differentiated application rates (40, 80, 120, 160, 200 kg/ha) and forms of N-fertilizers on the content of nitrates and Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni in carrot roots was investigated. N-fertilizing was found to significantly result in NO3-, Cd and Pb cumulation in carrot. The carrot contained above-the-limit amounts of Cd and Pb. The other observed elements Cu, Zn and Ni showed increased contents in carrot roots in dependence upon the increasing N-rates, but their permissible limits in carrot roots were not exceeded in any of the treatments.
