Determinacion de calidad en frutos de kiwi provenientes de plantas tratadas con bioabono.
1992

The general purpose of this study was to test the effect of "bioabono" (dry sludge) on the fruit quality of kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa) cv. Hayward. The trees have been planted in November 1987; the "bioabono" was added to each hole at the time of planting. As of the second year, annual dosages of "bioabono" were applied at the rates of 0; 7,5; 15,0; and 22,5 kg per plant. Fruit suitable for export was harvested (with a minimum of 6,2% soluble solids), within a grade size range from 30 to 39 (82-106 g per unit) in 1990 and grade 30 (106 g per unit) in 1991. The fruit was placed in cold storage for periods of 0; 1; 2; and 3 months. Following the periods in cold storage, the fruit finished ripening in a room at ambient temperature. Organoleptic, physical and chemical analyses were carried out. The results indicate that, on the whole, fruit from plants treated with "bioabono" lasted longer, once harvested, than fruit from untreated plants. Moreover, it would appear that, as the dosage of "bioabono" increased, the keeping quality of the fruit, tended to improve. Physical and chemical analyses, as well as organoleptic test, showed a wider dispersion of values for the first harvest season; probably attributable to the young age of the plants and the irregular size of the fruit. There was no evidence of the vitamin C content of the fruit having been affected by the treatments. For both seasons, all treatments revealed a good acceptability (over 70%).
