Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) forms an important component in Sudanese diets as well as in the farming system of Northern Sudan. Considerable on-farm research has been conducted to verify a package of technology to improve the productivity of faba bean and to cope with its rising domestic needs. An outline is given of economic results and prospects of applying the improved technology within two production systems in Northern Sudan. Institutional support is important for the enhancement of the technology effect. Its impact would be considerable in satisfying local demand.
