Respuesta del maiz al encalado de suelos del Valle de Atlacomulco, Mexico.

Spanish; Castilian. La acidez que presentan algunos suelos en el Valle de Atlacomulco, Mexico, es la principal limitante edafica para obtener mejores rendimientos de los cultivos. Ante esta situacion, el objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar el efecto del encalado y la fertilizacion fosfatada en el rendimiento de maiz y la disponibilidad de fosforo, en suelos de Atlacomulco. Se trabajo con cinco suelos, se evaluaron tres dosis de encalado (0 y las cantidades necesarias para elevar el pH del suelo a 5.5 y 6.5) y dos niveles de P(0 y 50 ppm), con tres repeticiones. Se utilizo un diseno experimental completamente al azar. En invernadero se establecio un experimento con maiz, el cual se cosecho a los 45 dias despues de la siembra, y se determino rendimiento de materia seca y P absorbido por la planta. En el suelo se evaluo pH y P extractable. Se realizo el analisis de varianza de las variables estudiadas y, en algunos casos, prueba de contrastes entre tratamientos. La aplicacion de fosforo incremento el rendimiento de materia seca del maiz y la absorcion de este nutrimento por la planta en todos los suelos, sin embargo, la respuesta al encalado fue variable en estos. En suelos con bajo contenido de aluminio intercambiable el encalado no tuvo efecto significativo, o bien tendio a reducir el rendimiento y la disponibilidad de P, mientras que estas variables se incrementaron en suelos con alto contenido de aluminio y bajo nivel de calcio intercambiable.

English. The acidity found in some soils of the Atlacomulco Valley, Mexico, is the main edaphic limitation to obtain better crop yields. With regard to this situation, the purpose of this work was to study the effect of liming and phosphate fertilization on the yield of corn and the availability of phosphorus in Atlacomulco soils. Five soils were studied, three liming doses were evaluated (0 and the necessary amounts to increase the soil pH to 5.5 and 6.5), and two P levels (0 and 50 ppm) with three replications. A completely randomized experimental design was used. A corn experiment was established in greenhouse and it was harvested 45 days after sowing. The dry matter yield and the P uptake by the plant were determined. In the soils, pH and extractable P were evaluated. The analysis of variance for the studied variables was realized and, in some cases, contrast tests between treatments were also performed. The phosphorus applications increased the dry matter yield of corn and the absorption of this nutrient by the plant in all soils, however, the liming response was inconsistent in these. In soils with a low content of exchangeable aluminum, liming either had an insignificant ffect or tended to reduce the yield and availability of P, whereas these variables were increased in soils with a high content of aluminum and a low level of exchangeable calcium.
