In the article are exposed the results of a study of development, vitality and productivity of willow (Salix alba) and alder (Alnus glutinosa) in the plantations established on gravelly alluvion of poor ecological value. The plantations of both species are of good quality, vigorous and highly productive. The volume of willow plantation, at the age of 11 years, is 120 cubic m/ha, mean diameter d=15.5 cm and mean height h=15.9 m. The volumes of alder plantations, in dependence on plantation density (number of trees per ha 939 and 1198) are 93 and 91 cubic meter, mean diameter 14.8 and 13.1 cm and mean heights 12.5 and 12.1 m. Better development of alder trees was attained in the plantation of smaller density.
