Controlled pollination proved that the embryo-cultured makapuno coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) trees developed by de Guzman and co-workers are purely makapuno-bearing and that all makapuno nuts are homozygous for the character. Influence of the pollen is directly manifested on the type of endosperm of the nut developed from the pollination process and thus may be regarded as a case of 'xenia'.
