1982
Sauti N.R.F.
Cassava (Manihot esculenta) and sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) are the two commonly grown root crops in Malawi. There is also cultivation of yams and cocoyams; however, their hectarage is unknown. Information on the country's root crops is scanty, and the current research program only covers cassava and sweet potato.
