The percent contents of N, P, K, Ca, and Mg in barley and oat plants harvested at tillering and at the onset of shooting were found to be chiefly related to weather conditions in the period preceding sampling. There was little cultivar-to-cultivar variation in this respect. Some cultivars showed higher percentages of some nutrients, regardless of weather conditions.
