This thesis, conducted at the Experiment Station of the Catholic University of Chile, located at Pirque, Metropolitan Region, had as primary objective to determine the effect of four levels of Biorend, 0.0, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 L per 100 kg of seed, on the yield components, yield and some agronomic and industrial characters, like plant height, foliar area, protein and oil content and yield in four soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill.) genotypes. The experiment was conducted in a split block design with four treatments and four replications. Plots were hill plots spaced 75 cm each one. Treatments were analyzed by quadratic regressions. Biorend did not show significant effects on plant height, grains per pod and grain weight. Quadratic responses were observed for foliar area, number of pods and yield. The amount of oil increased by 3.6% in relation to the control, while the protein content decreased with the use of Biorend. On the average, the application of 1.0 L of Biorend per 100 kg of seed increased foliar area by 18%, number of pods by 12% and yield by 13%, in relation to the control.
