Karyomorphology of Chichirica catharantus Roseus (L.) Don.

Karyomorphological analysis of pre-metaphase chromosomes of somatic cells of Catharanthus roseus revealed that the modal genomic number was 2n=16, consisting of three centromeric groups: median, submedian, and subterminal. Few cells contained 2n=12 and 200=14 chromosomes. The relative mean lengths of chromosome ranged from 0.042 to 0.076 mitotic index was 22.06%.
