For examining changes in the organic substance of soil during vegetative period there was applied - for the first time - a new method of its fractionation on the basis of susceptibility to oxidation. There was stated a considerable variability of the content of three determined fractions. Mean values for the whole period of investigation, however, did not depict any dependence on the cultivated plant (potato and rye) and the level of fertilization. Usability of the new method has been positively estimated and there has been shown a necessity for a theoretical build-up by model experiments.
