This diet analysis software program evaluates 730 foods for 18 nutrients including: cholesterol, sodium, saturated fatty acids and unsaturated fatty acids. Single foods, recipes, or meals may be analyzed. Foods are entered by the Item Number list ed in USDA Food Composition Handbook Number 72, April 1981. Percentages of fat, carbohydrate and protein are given along with percentages of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) based on age, sex, weight, and height. Portions are entered as the percentage of the standard portion size given in the Handbook Number 72. The "Sort" function lists foods selected for a menu, recipe or daily intake in descending order for the amount of any individual nutrient. The "Screen Filter" function, designed to assist with menu planning, compares foods against user-determined nutrient criteria. The database can be modified and expanded to incorporate new foods and/or nutrient values. Database updates are available from the producer. Data are provided in both tabular and graphic form. Analyses may be saved onto disk.
