The FSH cells were closer to the capillaries and more in number in the central zones of the pars distalis adenohypophysis than the LH cells. The FSH cells were more during oestrus and LH cells more during pregnancy. During dioestrus, the cell number did not vary much. In prepubertal period both types of cells were lesser in number.
