Data regarding prolificacy traits were tested in Hungarian Upgraded and Grey Landes breeds (acclimatised in Babat) over the period of 1989-1992. One year old birds were used during the spring laying cycles at "Babat" Goose Breeding Research Station of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Godollo. The x2-test was applied for the comparison of egg production, fertility of eggs and day-old gosling production curves by breeds and years. Significant differences were found in egg production between the two breeds in each year. The curves of egg production of Grey Landes showed no significant differences between years but in the Hungarian Upgraded population there were significant differences in this respect (P<0.001; with the exception of one year). The two breeds did not differ in fertility of eggs, however differences could be found within the Hungarian Upgraded breed: 1989-1992, 1990-1992 and 1991-1992 were significantly different. The production of goslings showed significant differences between years in the Hungarian population (excepting one year), but the Landes breed did not show this effect. It was started that the two breeds were significantly different in gosling production, with the exception of one year.
