The ground covered with plastic film can increase the temperature gradients. The general viewpoint in internal research on covering with plastic film is acceleration of water movement from deep to shallow soil levels due to temperature gradients. Summarizing the research results, the conclusions were that the soil moisture was transported constantly from hot to cold regions. through observation of water movement in soils sealed and covered with plastic film, where original water content was uniforms, determination of water content with water tension meters in soils of various depth under the films, as well as the analysis of practice on plastic mulch for preventing salt accumulation in the surface soil, the viewpoint that plastic mulch could accelerate the moisture transpoint upwards from deep to shallow soil levels can be denied.
