Effect of paclobutrazol on growth and yield of sweet corn HS. 27-127 was studied at the experimental field of the seed technology unit, KU/JICA Project, Kasetsart University, Kamphaengsaen Campus. Paclobutrazol at the rate of 0, 100, 300, 500, 700 and 1,000 ppm were sprayed on the 39-day-old plants. The plant height and ear height were significantly reduced when the concentrations were increased. Plants treated with 1,000 ppm of paclobutrazol had the least height and the least ear height (108.02 and 64.9 cm. respectively). The ear weight per rai and the ear with filled seed set weight per rai of the plants treated with 500 ppm of paclobutrazol were higher than other treatments (1,341.8 and 585.6 kg/rai, respectively). The large ear per rai of the plants treated with 300 ppm of paclobutrazol was higher than other treatments (1,899.2 ear/rai). The increase of the concentration tended to reduce the number of small ears. Plant treated with 700 ppm of paclobutrazol had the least number of small ears (2,192 ears/rai).
