Different problems regarding organic fertilizers in the forest tree - nurseries are discussed in the article. The question of providing Latvia forest tree - nurseries with humus is considered. It is emphasized that humus is formed in the process of decomposition of organic matter. It is stated that humus content increasing is a lasting process and it can be obtained regularly working into the ground organic fertilizers at the proper rates. Rational usage of wood residues for the obtaining of organic and organic-mineral fertilizers is suggested taking into consideration the example of other countries. The table of the sawdust effect on the four-year-old fir plant growing and soil chemical properties is presented.
