The main factors limiting the exploitation of timber from domestic forests by Italian industry are its often poor quality and the high costs of felling and logging operations in general.Although silvicultural techniques can,in time, improve timber quality, there remain certain obstacles, of both natural and human origin, impeding the reduction of costs. The sector's current organizational situation and the lack of a clear cut forestry policy do not encourage an optimistic outlook. The importance of this resource, howerver, requires a modern economic forestry policy based on advanced models corresponding to modern society's multiple and changing necessities.
Show more [+] Less [-]ITALIANO: La qualita frequentemente mediocre, l'elevato costo dei lavori di taglio, allestimento ed esbosco, sono all'origine della scarsa utilizzazione del legname prodotto dai nostri boschi da parte dell'industria Se e possibile nel tempo migliorare la qualita del nostro legname con appropriate tecniche silvicolturali, per la riduzione dei costi e la mancanza di una chiara politica forestale impediscono di fare previsio ni ottimistiche.L'importanza della risorsa legno deve pero impegnare tutti ad un rilancio di una moderna economia forestale basata su nuovi modelli, piu corrispondenti alle molteplici e mutate esigenze della societa.
