One hundred and seventeen isolates from 8 Fusarium species were screened for the ability to produce fusarin C. The isolates were obtained from the kernels of wheat, rye, triticale, barley, corn and oats collected in the European part of Russia and the Ukraine in 1985-1989. All the species studied were able to produce fusarin C. The ratio of the number of producers to the number of the isolates examined was 11/26 for Fusarium culmorum, 8/21 for Fusarium graminearum, 5/24 for Fusarium monitiforme, 4/17 for Fusarium pode, 1/4 for Fusarium tricinctum, 2/16 for Fusarium sporotrichioides, 3/8 for Fusarium avenaceum, and 1/1 for Fusarium fusarioides.
