The Chrysanthemum plants were sprayed with triforine (Saprol 0.1 per cent) before or after infection with Puccinia horiana. The activity of triforine was highest at the infection and incubation stages. The symptoms appeared later and the disease indexes were lower on the plants sprayed 6 and 3 days before inoculation. The telias did not appear on those plants sprayed immediately and 3 days after inoculation. Some telias were visible on those plants after 2 or 3 months.
