Oil content showed non-significant correlation with the 4 characters, i.e. flower number, total fresh-flower bio-mass, total fresh weight of single flower and flowering period. Multiple correlation coefficient between oil content and the 4 characters was 0.129. The direct and indirect contributions of the 4 characters to oil content was negligible. The residual effect was high (0.986). It was concluded that all the 4 characters other than oil content would not be useful for the improvement of essential oil yield.
