In mixed feeds applied to Astra S hens during their reproductive exploitation lasting 10 months, Triticale grain of winter and spring varieties: MAH 183 and "Jago", amounting to 35-60 per cent substituted for wheat and maize. Instead of soya meal, 8-14 per cent of rapeseed meal of the twice improved variety "Jantar" and 5-6 per cent of faba bean meal were introduced. Experimental components did not have a negative effect on the fundamental usable features of the flock, such as maturity, peaked egg laying, the number of eggs from one hen, the egg weight and the feeding stuff consumption per one hen. Mortality rate increased in groups in which hens were fed in mixtures with experimental components; hatching rate decreased in these groups due to the greater number of unfertilized eggs and more unhatched chicks. Experimental mixtures did not influence negatively either the mass of embryos or one day chicks but they handicapped the growth of studied organs.
