The experimental context of tree culture on grazed grassland limits the field analysis on integrated agroforestry situations. In Auvergne (France), there are 26 situations of trials on 55 hectares in 1994. Surveys emphasize the first elements on agroforestry demand. In spite of a large site diversity and of a strong sampling, it appears some original behaviours. The agroforestry choice is the result of a double research: to optimise extensive using of owned farm plots, to afforest with schemes different from the classical ones. The individual and professional landowner situations also present common characteristics. Agroforestry is potentially an adjusted solution for agriculture and forest restraints. Youth of experimentation does not allow to estimate all relationships between agroforestry and farm systems. The first reference stage concerns labour and grassland management. Before development, large and precise analysis must be carried out on the agronomic, economic and juridical aspects.
