English. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of dietary beta-carotene (27.0 vs 59.8 ppm) on reproductive traits of 80 hybrid does and on weaned rabbits. The beta-carotene determined a positive and significant effect on fertility rate, borns alive (9.82 vs 8.60). Number of weaned rabbits (8.13 vs 7.96) and pre- (9.55 vs 11.45%) and post-weaning (4.29 vs 5.66%) mortality rate showed light variations. Also 55 d weight (1.75 vs 1.72 kg) and daily gains from 30 to 55 d (39.37 vs 38.56 g/d) showed better results with supplementation with beta-carotene.
Show more [+] Less [-]ITALIANO: Scopo del presente lavoro e' stato quello di analizzare l'influenza del beta-carotene (27.0 vs 59.8 ppm) sulle prestazioni produttive di 80 coniglie Hyla e della loro progenie. I risultati hanno evidenziato un effetto positivo e significativo sulla percentuale di fertilita' e sul numero di nati vivi (9.82 vs 8.60). Gli svezzati per nidiata (8.13 vs 7.96), la mortalita' pre- (9.55 vs 11.45%) e post-svezzamento (4.29 vs 5.66%) hanno manifestato variazioni piu' ridotte. Anche i pesi individuali a 55 g (1.75 vs 1.72 kg) e l'accrescimento dei coniglietti tra 30 e 55 g (39.37 vs 38.56 g/d) sono stati favorevolmente influenzati dall'integrazione con il carotenoide.
