In summer raining period, under the unfavourable condition, the apple tree grows uselessly, and in its leaf, branch and bark, the carbohydrate, the nitrogen compound tension and the calcium content are decreased, and resistance to canker is weak. It is related to the decrease of mobile calcium in soil. Calcium makes the apple tree to grow in healthy and to increase the compound tension of carbohydrate and nitrogen, and strong resistance to canker. Such action of calcium is more clear in case of much moisture in soil as like in summer.
