Since before the conquest of La Palma a particular type of goat well adapted to the environment has been farmed, of which there are more than 12.000 heads. During 2 years different studies have been made, concerning morphological, immunogenetical aspects, meat and milk production as well as farming systems. From the results obtained, it should be noted the homogenicity of this population within the Caprine Canarian Group environment with regard to the morphological and immunogenetical aspects. With relation to the production it is marked the milk production aptitude in its quantitative and qualitative aspects. Concerning the systems of farming, there is a tendency to the intensification and loss of traditional characteristics.
