Comparacion citologica y ultraestructural de la glandula salival de Apis mellifera en dos estados larvarios.

The different cellular components of the salivary gland in two stages of development of Apis mellifera larvae were studied. The nuclear and cytoplasmic contents of such cells were analyzed through electronic microscopy. Different cellular types which characterized each stage of larval development and that differentiate in contents of secretory vesicle, rough endoplasmic reticulum development, Golgi's apparatus, chromatin distribution and the nucleus-cytoplasm relationship were found. In first stages grubs, glandular cells, nuclei show heterochromatin dense on central location, with a well developed rough endoplasmic reticulum and a nucleus-cytoplasm relationship of about 1:1, not being observed the Golgi's apparatus. Meanwhile, in third stage larvae, glands show two different cellular types. One of them has a nucleus with heterochromatin dense on peripheric location, with a rough endoplasmic reticulum and a well developed Golgi's apparatus, in a nucleus cytoplasm relationship of about 1:3. While the other kind of glandular cells shows nuclei with peripheric heterochromatin, with a well developed rough endoplasmic reticulum and a nucleus-cytoplasm relationship of about 1:1, not being observed the Golgi's apparatus. The spatial distribution of heterochromatin characterizes the different cellular types from a structural and functional point of view, which are present in the salivary gland of Apis mellifera.
