Survival rate and adventitious buds initiation was decreased with increasing concentration of colchicine. The height, circumference of pseudostem and number of leaves showed significant difference in every month. Total leaf number of each treatment was 41.8-44.3 leaves. There were 12.8-14.2 leaves during fruiting stage. There was no difference on fruit development in any treatment. Treated plants of 1500 ppm of colchicine for 72 hours took the longest time in completing the life cycle, but the shortest in control. There were no difference in fingers and hands per bunch, length of finger, peel thickness and sugar content in any treatment. The bunch weight and size of fingers were significantly different. The highest bunch weight was 7525 gm as shown in control but the lowest was 5425 gm in the plant treated with 1500 ppm of colchicine for 72 hours. The plant treated with 1000 ppm of colchicine for 48 hours gave the smallest size and 500 ppm of colchicine for 72 hours gave the biggest of fruit. Development of fruit colour and storage life were not different, but the flesh firmness were significantly different. The plants were treated with 500 ppm for 48 hours giving the highest firmness at 0.92 kg/square m and the lowest one at 0.724 kg/sq m was treated with 1500 ppm for 24 hours. The ploidy observation was made by stomata measurement and chromosome count. There was no difference in this experiment. Those concentrations of colchicine gave some effect at early stage of growth and development however there was no effect in chromosome number, yield and fruit quality.
