Cytological picture of the necrotic reaction induced by potato virus M on bean var. Red Kidney leaves.
1984
Rudzinska Langwald A.
The necrotic reaction in PVM-infected bean var. Red Kidney was investigated on the first pair of primary leaves of seedlings, inoculated with strain 55. Within the necrotic lesion three zones can be distinguished. Necrotic cells are situated in the centre, seminecrotic cells - more on the outside, and non-necrotic cells - on the circumference of the lesion. The cytoplasm of the seminecrotic cells is very clear; it contains many membrane-surrounded vesicles and osmophilic globules. In the cytoplasm of non-necrotic cells many rough endoplasmic reticulum membranes and relatively many dictyosomes are present. In the non-necrotic zone cells thickening of cell walls takes place.
