The study was undertaken in order to check by chemical analysis whether and to what extent nitrogen fertilization affected the content of ascorbic acid and whether its losses during storage depended on the level of fertilization or on the difference in storage conditions. On the basis of the results no negative effect of nitrogen fertilization on the content of ascorbic acid in potatoes was found, the level of losses depending first of all on the differences in storage conditions.
