Mastitis of milking cows on individual farms and on specialized small farms in the north Montenegro (Yugoslavia) is rather frequent and occurs in clinical and subclinical forms. Occurrence of the udder disease (mastitis) with sheep in the same area is less frequent. From the udder secretion in cows the following microorganisms have been isolated: Staphilococcus spp. (Haemoliticus), Streptococcus spp. and Escherichia coli, while from the udder secretion in sheep there has been isolated Bacterium mastoides, as well. By prompt local and parenteral therapy, 92.46% of the diseased cows and 84.32% of sheep have been cured. Intensive hygienic and preventive measures are recommended.
