In in-vitro tests addition of clenbuterol to the incubating medium reduced 34C stearate uptake and incorporation and increased the amount of free 34C stearate in the adipocytes. Release of glycerol and free fatty acids was stimulated. These responses contribute to the lower fat content of carcass meat from both suckling lambs and weaned sheep treated with clenbuterol.
