Supplementary biotin (500 micro g per kg) to wheat-based diets improved the body condition of sows. The greatest improvement occurred during lactation and in the period from weaning to mating. Improved body condition at these times may be associated with a reduction of 0.7 d in the wean-to-effective service interval.
