This paper presents the results of investigating digestibility of ensilaged corn chop, with or without urea. Pure raw corn chop was ensilaged for the control. The experimental silage 1 contained urea added in granules, in the concentration of 0.78% per 90% of dry matter. The experimental silage 2 contained the same quantity in the 20% solution. All barrels were well stuffed, so that 1 dm contained 1 kg of the mass. Five months after ensilage, the barrels were opened and the experiment was performed upon pigs. On the basis of the results obtained, the following conclusions were drawn:1) In ensilaged corn chop the organic matters are very well digested, so that corn chop can match ensilaged maize. 2) Addition of certain quantity of urea (0.78% per 90% of dry matter) to ensilaged corn chop mass did not exert negative influence on the ensilage processes. 3) Urea added to silage increased the total raw protein level in the control and experimental silages, compared with the original material, by 22%, figured per 90% of dry matter. 4) Digestibility of proteins in the control and experimental silages (urea added) was high - over 80%, and experimental silages alone contained 23.6% more digestible proteins than the control one, i.e. 17 g more of digestible proteins per 90% of dry matter. 5) Urea, through ensilaged corn chop, can be used as a good protein source for monogastric animals. 6) The way of adding urea in granules, i.e. in 20% solution, did not influence nutritive and biological properties of the silage.
