Prospect of adopting single animal ploughing in tillage operations in Bangladesh.

In this study an attempt was made to determine the prospect of adopting single animal ploughing (SAP) in Bangladesh. For this purpose. 469 SAP and 439 DAP (double animal ploughing) farmers were interviewed in detail for achieving the objectives. The study revealed that farmers having larger cultivable land, small number of cattle heads and earning members were the adopters of SAP system. SAP system is being practiced only by buffaloes. Therefore, a massive adoption of SAP by buffaloes is suggested where their concentration is more in number to overcome the prevailing draft power shortage of the country. For this purpose, credit facilities need to be made available.
