Evaluacion de inhibidores de la nitrificacion en trigo de invierno.

The effect of urea treated with nitrapyrin (2-chloro-6-(tricloromethyl) pyridine), thiourea (NH2-CS-NH2) and dicyandiamide (NH2-C-(NH)-NH-C-H) was compared with the effect of urea and Chilean nitrate (NaNO3) untreated on the nitrifying bacteria population, nitrogen utilization efficiency, primary productivity and grain yield of a winter wheat cv. Pillan Baer. The experiment was carried out at the Experimental Station of the Agronomy, Veterinarian and Forestry Faculty of the University of Concepcion, Chillan, Chile. The urea treated with nitrapyrin and dicyandiamide increased the nitrogen recovery efficiency in 67 and 82%, respectively, when applied at rate of 90 kg of N ha-1. Urea untreated increased 55% the nitrogen recovery efficiency. However, the yield of grain and dry matter did not increase. When the urea treated rate was equivalent to 180 kg of N ha-1, nitrapyrin and thiourea increased the nitrogen recovery efficiently by 57% and dicyandiamide by 64%. Urea untreated increased in 45% the nitrogen recovery efficiency. However, the treatment with nitrapyrin was the only that significantly increased the yield. Then were not found significant differences due to rate or source of nitrogen. The application of nitrogen rate at one or two times did not affected the yields. Finally, the nitrogen recovery efficiency was similar with the use of inhibitors than with partial application of urea.
