In Hungarian agriculture, fundamental changes are now proceeding. The primary aim of these is the arrangement of proprietorships, but the modification of the size of farms and the structure of production also appear as important consequence. Neither the agrarian policy, nor the production policy can be continued there, where they were stopped after land distribution in 1945, prior to its collectivization. The redressing of grievances and the productive capacity of the agricultural sector should be harmonized. It is a crucial question of determining how the transformation course of the earlier successfully functioning co-operatives will develop and transform. The future of the co-operative form based on private ownership is very promising, and every other similar form has the same promising future which may result in a more efficient exploitation of the resources and a profitability higher than in the present situation.
